Hello, and welcome to karingknitters. We are a collective of gals who love to knit and love to help others. We are always in search for a good cause to which we can donate hand knit hats, scarves, etc
On 11/26/13 we delivered
65 baby hats to the Kaiser Maternity Ward and the nurses were thrilled to
receive them. It was a fun delivery for us partly because both Barbara
and Peggy knew two new Moms who had just delivered their babies and were in the
recovery section of the maternity ward. Barbara gave her Mom friend a
baby hat and spoke with her for a few minutes and Peggy gave the nurse a hat to
bring to the Mom she knew. We celebrated our donation by eating lunch at the
Cheesecake Factory afterwards.
Jean, our Vacaville
Karing Knitter, has generously knitted hats for us over the past three years.
Here she is displaying some of the six Christmas hats that were
delivered to Kaiser Walnut Creek.
TODAY was the BEST hat delivery I think we've had so far. We
arrived at the Maternity Ward at the exact right time as most of the nurses
were at the front desk and all we're so excited to look through the bag of 43
hats we gave them. One of the nurses said that her patient just had
twins, a boy and a girl and immediately selected two matching hats, and two of
the other nurses picked hats for their patients. Anne asked if the Moms
appreciated the hats and there was a resounding YES from all of the nurses.
We are apparently the only group that donates hats so the nurses are
thrilled when we arrive.

On a recent tour of the UK, our fearless leader Peggy had lots of fun visiting various yarn shops. Here she shares her wonderful finds.
During a long train/bus tour or Colorado (a beautiful state) I was working on scarves for Christmas at St Anthony's and ran out of yarn - heaven forbid. When our train arrived in Durango a wonderful site appeared - Durango Yarn. It is a wonderful shop with a great variety of yarns at reasonable prices. So if you are ever in Durango look for the shop. It really is a - not to miss shop. Jan B
One of our knitting contributors is Maria. She has made 14
scarves, 82 baby beanies and 23 chemo hats since she started contributing
to the Karing Knitters. Maria knits all her scarves and hats on a loom. Her
color combinations and attention to detail are very welcoming!
On 8/6, we had Blake, our newest and youngest
knitter, join us for our knitting session. He loved checking out
the nice soft yarn and sitting on Harriet's comfy lap. Blake is the grandson of proud grandma Barbara (left).
