We delivered a total of 110 hats to Kaiser Walnut Creek
on 12/15/19 which included 15 chemo, 15 Chanukah, 55 Christmas, and the rest
generic hats. The most exciting part about the donations is that a new set of
grandparents were waiting to meet their twin grandsons and they selected one
Chanukah hat and one Christmas hat since the boys will celebrate both religious
holidays!

Our final Delivery of the year
Our final deliveries of the season including hats and scarves to St Anthony's in SF today totaled 421! They were very appreciative of our large donation and we know these hand knitted pieces will be given to those in need! Thanks to Harriet Skelly, Rita Weikal, Ann Cygielman, Nancy Liskewicz and some knitters from the Alamo Women's Club who contributed but weren't able to.join us today. Thanks to everyone!
Twice a month,Eden Church in Hayward,
distributes food to low income recipients. All food comes from the Alameda
County Food Bank and many of these people rely on this donation to feed their
families.
Today, we distributed 63 hats to the adults who
came for food. 17 extra hats will be distributed to people
who attend an English class at the church.
All recipients were very appreciative and enjoyed
choosing the perfect hat. It was fun meeting the people face to face
and seeing the joy and excitement of getting a nice warm hat! It made us
feel good, too!

Two Deliveries in One
The Kaiser oncology department was surprised and thrilled
when we delivered 18 chemo hats including 3 fleece hats on 11/15/2019. They
said there’s a huge need for them and the patients will be so appreciative!
Also delivered were 43 baby hats to the maternity ward. One of the nurses said that several new Moms asked how they could personally thank us for the hats and she said she would tell us how happy they were to receive them.

Another wonderful Kaiser hat delivery!
Our Karing Knitters’ donations were
especially
appreciated when they were delivered on 9/4/2019 because a set of twin girls
had just been born and the nurse asked if there were any hats for them..in
walked one of our members with 105 hats! What a coincidence! She selected two
matching hats and the parents were thrilled!Saturday, July 20, 2019
Another Delivery to Kaiser
One at the Karing Knitters stopped at Target before
delivering the baby hats to Kaiser Walnut Creek. She spotted a very pregnant
gal who was bringing her purchased items to her car and stopped her and asked
her if she was going to have her baby at Kaiser Walnut Creek. She said that she
was going to have her baby at John Muir but did have her first child at Kaiser.
Since the knitter had a whole bag of hats in her car she asked her if she would
like one. She’s going to have a boy and so she gave her about 10 hats to select
from and she selected one that member Amy made. She was absolutely thrilled and
overjoyed that this knitter would stop her and give her baby hat.
On July 19, 2019, Kaiser newborns were the happy
recipients of 65 baby hats. As always, the nurses were grateful to receive the
hats since we are the only group to make hats for them.
Thank you all for your contributions!

And More Hats
On
Valentine's Day, 2019, one of the members delivered 70 general baby hats to
Kaiser Walnut Creek Maternity. We had just delivered hats on Sunday
and they were down to their last 5 Valentine Hats so were very appreciative of
this donation so quickly after the last donation. One of the nurses
just had a baby last night and was a happy recipient of a Valentine's Hat for
her baby girl!

Valentine Delivery
As
always, the nurses were so thrilled to receive more baby hats at Kaiser
Maternity on February 10th. The caring Knitters collectively
knitted/crocheted 27 Valentine themed hats and 40 general hats. The
nurses were told to wait until Tuesday to distribute the valentine hats so all
of the Valentine born babies would be sure to receive a special hat. The nurses
reiterated how much the new parents LOVE the hats and are so appreciative to
receive them.
Another note ... we were entirely surprised when Google wished us Happy Birthday and it wasn't even our birthday.
