4th of July hat delivery

The Karing Knitters delivered 88 baby hats, 16 of which were 4th of July themed,  to Kaiser on 7/1/14.  As usual, the nurses were thrilled since their hat basket was empty.  They said that when they bring in one of our hats to show the Moms during their  labor, they smile, realizing that this will be worn by their baby. Another nurse said that they are blessed and so grateful to have us knitting hats for the babies. They truly appreciate our efforts.
Kudos to all of us!!!

Pre-Easter delivery

Jan, Barbie, and Peggy delivered a total of 96 hats to Kaiser on 4/15/14, (71 baby and 25 chemo hats).  The three of us took turns modeling the chemo hats.  Barbara, a Chemo Staff member was very grateful for  the hats since they receive so few donations.  She said that the ladies would have a great time selecting their favorite colors from our donation.
The Maternity Nurses were equally excited about the large donation since they only had 1 St. Patrick's Day hat left over from our last donation.  One of the nurses said that the Mom's often keep our hats as keepsakes from Kaiser.  We donated several Easter hats which the nurses are displaying in the picture.

Hat Delivery for St Pat's Day

Peggy delivered 88 hats, 18 of which were knitted for St. Patrick's Day,  to Kaiser Maternity on 3/14/14.  As usual, the nurses were thrilled to receive the donations.  The nurse pictured on the phone had just received a call to head to the operating room for a C-Section, so her thanks to us for the hat donations was brief but very nice.  She said the patients are very appreciative of these gifts.

Valentine Delivery

Peggy went solo on 2/10/14 to deliver 58 baby hats to Kaiser Walnut Creek.  Twenty-four of the hats had Valentine designs.  There seemed to be an abundance of nurses at the desk when Peggy arrived and they were so thrilled with the donation.  One of the regular nurses said, "yah!  the hat lady is here".  (We are the only group that knits baby hats for the newborns).  The nurses all discussed which babies were being born, including a set of twin girls, who were given the white hats with red hearts on them.  All of the nurses huddled over the bag of hats to select just the perfect hat for "their" baby. The nurses liked the idea of our making two or more of the same design since they have many multiple births.
